Most factories show you a certificate and stop there. Buyers who have been doing this for a while know that a certificate tells you an audit happened, not what it found. So here is what ours found.
The two audits
In April 2026 we completed a SMETA four-pillar audit covering labour standards, health and safety, environment and business ethics. In July 2026 we completed an amfori BSCI full monitoring, semi-announced, covering the same site. Both were carried out by ALGI and both reports are available to customers under NDA.
What was raised
- Working hours — overtime in peak months exceeded the 36-hour monthly threshold. This is the finding we take most seriously and it is the one that recurs across audits.
- Chemical storage — secondary containment was missing for some containers in the compounding area.
- Warehouse housekeeping — storage against walls and washroom conditions.
- Social insurance coverage — the proportion of workers enrolled fell below the audit threshold during the period reviewed.
What we are doing
Secondary containment and warehouse layout were corrected within the audit cycle. Insurance enrolment is being brought back above threshold with a monthly reconciliation against the payroll register. Working hours are the hard one: they are driven by order peaks, and the honest answer is that the fix is scheduling and recruitment rather than a policy document. We have added capacity on the tenth dipping line and are levelling production across the quarter rather than accepting the peak.
If your compliance team needs the full reports, the corrective action plan or the current certificate set, ask your account contact — we send them under NDA as a matter of course.
